Modern AI agents are built to pursue business goals: draft and revise documents, build spreadsheets, search through PDFs, research the web, and manipulate images and video. They do that by writing code and installing applications and tools as they go — the same way a skilled person would use a computer.
That is why a serious agent needs its own computer, and why its native channels are Markdown (structured text files it can read and write cleanly) and the terminal (the command line where software runs and systems are controlled). Chat is a convenience. Files and the command line are how the work actually happens.

interloc puts both in front of you: documents you can edit, and a live command line into the agent’s machine — so you meet the AI on its terms with an interface built for people.
Amazing agents are dangerous agents.
To be useful, agents have to be able to change things: install software, write files, call the network, use accounts. Clip those wings and they are mostly chat. Leave them unfettered on the laptop you live on and you have hired something that can also do real damage.
An agent is like a genius-level junior employee — enthusiastic, fast, and running on PCB and four Monsters. 99.99% of the time you’re fine. One time in ten thousand, it might erase everything it can reach.

When we host the agent, that means an isolated Linux system with its own email and chat accounts and access you choose to allow. You still talk to it through interloc: documents and command line, human in the loop.
